Tsunagu — Threads of Continuance

2026 · Series of Six · Hanging Scroll Format

A meditation on continuity: on what is carried from one being to another, one season to the next. Six paintings of monarch butterflies — alone, in pairs, gathered in cluster — set within hand-mounted hanging scrolls. The monarch's annual return to the eucalyptus groves of Northern California becomes a quiet image of memory.

Sumi ink, ground mineral pigments — malachite, cinnabar, ocher clay, oyster shell white, coral, and gold — on Hosho shikishi · 11" × 10" each · mounted as hanging scrolls.

Presented at SF Art Fair 2026 at Fort Mason Center, San Francisco, through Arc Studios & Gallery (April 16–19).
